Minor injuries were reported after a collision between two school buses Wednesday afternoon in the city’s west end. The Ottawa Paramedic Service says they received a call shortly before 3:20 p.m. reporting a collision at Greenbank Road and Craig Henry Drive. When they arrived at the scene, they assessed and released four people, but no one was taken to hospital, paramedics say. An email sent to parents of Knoxdale Public School from the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board says the collision occurred during dismissal, outside the school. Emergency services were contacted and “quickly” arrived to assess the scene. “A few students sustained minor scrapes and cuts and were cared for by paramedics,” the email said. “We understand this may have been a concerning experience for some students. Staff were on hand to support them today, and we will continue to provide extra attention and support tomorrow as needed.” The Ottawa Student Transportation Authority (OSTA) was also contacted and arranged alternative arrangements for students on the impacted routes. The OSTA told CTV News Ottawa on Thursday that three students were treated for minor injuries. “OSTA is working with the school bus operator to investigate this further,” the authority said in an email. “Please be assured that we take incidents of this nature very seriously; student safety is always our top priority.” The cause of the crash is unclear.
