A multi-platinum selling artist will be performing a special show in Ottawa this Valentine’s Day.

Tyler Shaw, a Juno Award-nominated artist, will be performing at the Bronson Centre on Feb. 14. Shaw joined CTV Your Morning Ottawa on Thursday to speak about his upcoming show, the ten-year anniversary of his debut album and his new life in Ottawa.

Shaw says he’s called Ottawa home for three years; however, his transition to the capital wasn’t always easy.

“I won’t lie, it’s been a bit of a struggle and a bit of a transition for me,” he said.

As Shaw explains, Toronto has a robust music infrastructure that allowed him to rely on others during music production. In Ottawa, Shaw’s had to handle much of that process on his own.

“I’ve always been able to produce, but being in Ottawa now, it’s kind of forced me to do it myself, which has been an amazing process,” he said.

On Feb. 14, Shaw will be performing a show for his local crowd at the Bronson Centre, which he says will be his first-ever Valentine’s Day show.

“I thought I would do this just because of how many love songs I have on the catalogue, so it just kind of made sense,” he said.

Shaw also recently celebrated the 10-year anniversary of his first ever album “Yesterday,” which released in Sept. 2015. Shaw says there will be a special edition EP available for purchase exclusively at the Valentine’s Day show.

“We’re celebrating 10 years, we’re celebrating love, but you can also come if you’re single, that’s not a problem. We’re going to have fun regardless,” he said.

The Valentine’s Day show will be opened by two local acts, Patrick Thomas and Emma LaMontagne.

Shaw says he has a new release written alongside Thomas and titled “Run to You” releasing in March.
