Man arrested in North Grenville, Ont. voyeurism case facing child pornography charges

Ontario Provincial Police say a man who was arrested in connection with a voyeurism case at a daycare in North Grenville is now facing additional charges related to child sexual abuse materials.

A recording device was found in a daycare in North Grenville, south of Ottawa, on Aug. 20. Nine days later, police said a man had been arrested and charged with voyeurism.

Police did not name the daycare where the device was found.

On Friday, the OPP said additional charges were laid.

“As a result of the ongoing investigation by the Grenville OPP Crime Unit, a search warrant was executed, leading to the seizure of hundreds of inappropriate video clips of adults, as well as children,” the OPP said in a news release.

Daniel Morash, 27, of Embrun, is now facing charges of possession of child pornography, accessing child pornography, and mischief, in addition to the previous voyeurism charge that was laid.

He was released from custody on strict conditions following a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear before court in Brockville on Oct. 3.

Police said, as part of the investigation, officers are working to identify victims seen in the video clips.

“Information is being shared with all parents at the facility and investigators will be reaching out to identified victims. We understand that this matter is concerning and upsetting for those whose children may have been impacted,” the OPP said on social media.
