Landscaping truck involved in several collisions in Ottawa was stolen, OPP says

A truck emblazoned with a local landscaping company’s logo that was involved in several collisions in Ottawa on Tuesday had been stolen and was not being driven by a company employee, Ontario Provincial Police say.

OPP posted on X Thursday to say the owner gave permission to post an image of the truck online and explain the situation after several people complained about the company. The truck says Jason’s Landscaping and Snowplowing on the side.

“They have received numerous angry calls about ‘the drivers they hire’ as well as negative online comments directed towards the company,” the OPP said.

The Ottawa Police Service says the vehicle was seen on Eagleson Road and Highway 417 eastbound before it hit several vehicles and stopped east of Carling Avenue.

A man in his 20s was arrested at the scene and charged with possession of stolen property, police say. A second person ran away from the scene and efforts to find the person using canines were unsuccessful.

Ottawa police say the investigation remains ongoing.
