Kingston police say officers seized a small, single-shot pistol from an individual after a roadside stop on Thursday. According to police, a person riding an electric bicycle ran a red light at the intersection of Bath Road and Palace Road. Officers stopped the cyclist and discovered there was an outstanding warrant for the person’s arrest. During the arrest, police say officers found a small, black object that tuned out to be a .22 calibre single-shot pistol. The 55-year-old Kingston resident was arrested on the grounds of the outstanding warrant, and was charged with possession of a dangerous weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm without a licence, and possession of a restricted or prohibited weapon without a licence. Under the Criminal Code, firearms with barrels of 105 millimetres or less are considered prohibited. The gun in question is 86 mm long.
