Jurassic Quest event at EY Centre offering a step back in time this weekend

Will gets a preview of North America’s largest moving, roaring, and breathing dinosaurs that come alive in a fully immersive walk-through experience.

The new year is only weeks away, but if you’d rather go backwards in time than forwards, you can do so at the EY Centre this weekend.

Jurassic Quest brings dinosaurs to life in an immersive, walk-through experience. It runs from Friday through Sunday.

Dino trainer Shahmad Muhammad tells CTV Your Morning Ottawa the event takes you way, way, way back in time.

“When they walk in, they already are blasted back to the past to our exhibit, where we have over 165 million years’ worth of dinosaurs,” he said. “We have Spinosauruses, Apatosauruses, T-Rex, Triceratops, we have ‘em all.”

Jurassic Quest takes visitors through three different time periods, Muhammad says: the Cretaceous, the Jurassic, and the Triassic.

“You just are bombarded with big dinosaurs as soon as you walk in and it doesn’t stop all the way through,” he said.

“My favourite part is looking at the kids’ faces and see that wow of wonder because I felt that way when I saw dinosaurs at that age.”

There is a lot more to do than just look at dinosaurs, says dino trainer Adrian Palmer.

“We have bounce houses. Parents: you will get sucked into the bounce houses. It is inevitable,” he said. “We also recently merged with Brick Fest Live. So, not only do we have the dinosaur aspect, but we now have a Lego aspect.”

Visitors can also dig for fossils, meet baby dinosaurs and ride life-sized giant dinosaurs.

“As well, we are doing sensory hours on Saturday. It’s for those who have sensory issues to light, sound. That time on Saturday from 8 to 9, all the lights are on, there’s no sound, so it’s very inclusive for those people,” Palmer said. “I love seeing those kids that come in because they really enjoy it. The smiles, the laughter, it’s so fun.”
