You could spend your summers sailing for tourists’ gold on your very own fleet of pirate ships. Pirate Life Adventures is currently for sale. The tourism business currently operates four “Transport Canada-certified pirate ships,” in Ottawa, Toronto, and Hamilton according to a news release. In Ottawa, the pirate ship is an attraction at Mooney’s Bay. “Over the past decade and a half, Pirate Life has become a standout attraction within Ontario’s tourism and experiential events industry, supported by strong word-of-mouth marketing, hundreds of positive Google and TripAdvisor reviews, and a loyal returning customer base,” the company said. The business operates May through October. According to the news release, the acquisition includes: Each vessel is approved for up to 40 passengers plus crew and is equipped with twin Yamaha 115 HP outboard engines, 24 interactive water cannons, and full Transport Canada safety equipment, the company says. The ships’ owner, Matt Slaman, says people are prioritizing memorable experiences when looking for entertainment. “Pirate Life has built a recognizable brand and operational foundation that offers a unique opportunity for the right buyer to step into an established tourism business with immediate revenue potential,” he said. “It’s indescribably cool. It’s, it’s adventure. It’s truly, in its purest form, just fun play,” said Owen McGowan, general manager of Pirate Life Adventures Ottawa. “What we have here is really special.” Slaman says it’s a great business for those who want to work outside during the summer. “They want to be down here on the docks, living their best life from May to October and then in the off season, they want to cruise somewhere else to warmer waters,” he said. Slaman plans to move to Europe with his wife but says programming will be open this summer. “In the event we don’t find a buyer, I’ll still be captain of these ships and still be cruising,” he said.
