Gas prices hit another record in National Capital Region

Gas prices will hit another record high in the national capital region this weekend just in time for the official start of summer.

The price at the pumps in Gatineau is now posted at  $1.47 a litre at most gas stations.

Ottawa prices are about 5 cents a litre cheaper.

If you want to save some money on fuel, drive to Kemptville, south of Ottawa, where prices are set at $1.32.9 per litre.

The instability in Iraq is driving up the world price of oil.

Higher fuel prices have helped to trigger a spike in the inflation rate.

Ottawa's inlflation rate in May was 2.4 per cent.

Canada's inflation rate is 2.3 per cent.

In turn, prices have skyrocketed over the last three weeks.

The price for gas a year ago was listed at  $1.26 a litre,
