Crash between tractor sprayer and ambulance near Airdrie leaves 3 injured

Airdrie RCMP say three people, including two paramedics, were seriously injured in a collision between a tractor and an ambulance near Beiseker.

RCMP north of Calgary say three people are facing serious injuries after a crash between a tractor sprayer and an ambulance on a highway northeast of the city.

Airdrie RCMP were called to the intersection of Highway 9 and Range Road 254 for the crash at 1 p.m.

The ambulance, which was transporting a patient and had its emergency equipment activated, and the sprayer were both travelling on Highway 9 when they collided.

Mounties say a male patient was air lifted to hospital in critical condition via STARS Air Ambulance.

The two paramedics in the ambulance were both transported to hospital on the ground with serious injuries.

The person driving the sprayer was not taken to hospital, RCMP said.

Highway 9 is closed in the area as emergency crews investigate.
