Ontario Provincial Police say a 23-year-old from Barrie was killed Tuesday morning in a single motor vehicle crash on Highway 69. OPP responded to the collision around 8 a.m. on June 9. The victim was a passenger in the vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene, police said. The driver and a second passenger were taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Police said the vehicle was travelling northbound in the French River area when the collision occurred. OPP technical collision investigation and reconstruction teams are working to determine the cause of the crash. “The investigation remains ongoing,” OPP said in a news release. Highway closure The highway was closed in both directions between Highway 64 and Highway 607 for nearly nine hours following the crash, reopening just after 2:30 p.m. Police ask anyone who witnessed the collision or who has dashcam footage from the area at the time of the incident to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously.
