Firefighters battle fire at multi-million dollar Barrhaven home

Ottawa firefighters spent nearly an hour battling a fire that started inside the basement of a multi-million dollar home in Barrhaven on Tuesday afternoon.

The Ottawa Fire Services says crews responded to multiple 911 calls reporting visible flames in the basement of a single-family home on Muirfield Gardens near Cedarview Road shortly after 3:20 p.m.

Firefighters could see visible smoke inside the home and had to call in additional resources to assist them. Fire crews had to bring in a hose line through the home to douse the flames with water.

The fire was declared under control by 4:20 p.m.

An Ottawa paramedics spokesperson says first responders were called to the fire but no injuries were reported.

An investigation into the cause and origin of the fire remains under investigation.
