Ontario Provincial Police say a resident of an eastern Ontario home that was broken into in early 2025, leading to a confrontation that left two suspected intruders dead, is facing charges related to the storage and ownership of his guns. The incident took place at a home on Old Highway 2 in South Glengarry on Feb. 2, 2025. According to police, three people attempted to break into the home and two of them were shot and killed. The third person escaped. Police identified the deceased as Eddie Alobhouet, 19, and Tristan Simard, 18. Both were residents of Saint-Jérôme, Que. The two residents of the home were not injured. Several items, including guns, were seized from the home. The residents of the home were taken into custody at the time but were later released unconditionally. Police believe the incident was targeted. On Wednesday, the OPP said that, following further investigation, one man was arrested on Oct. 29. Police confirmed to CTV News Ottawa that he was a resident of the home. Ozric Blanchard, 31, of South Glengarry, is charged with four counts of careless storage of a firearm, two counts of unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, and other counts related to unauthorized possession. The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria on Dec. 2. On Oct. 22, OPP announced charges against three people connected with the incident, including the person who had fled the scene following the shooting. The incident remains under investigation, police said, and anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
