The North Bay Police Service is issuing a safety alert after a sewing needle was discovered inside a Twizzlers licorice candy. Police received the report Nov. 4 after a resident opened the licorice and discovered the needle. “The wrapper did not appear to have been tampered with before it was opened,” police said in a news release Wednesday evening. “The individual was unable to identify exactly where the candy was obtained but reported trick-or-treating in the neighbourhoods surrounding the North Bay Police Service and North Bay Fire and Emergency Services.” Residents are being urged to inspect all candy that their children received Halloween night before allowing them to eat it. Anyone who discovers a foreign object or suspicious material in Halloween candy is asked to report it to police at 705-472-1234.
