Cold warning issued for Ottawa, with wind chill making it feel like -35

It will be a cold end of January in Ottawa, with the wind chill making it feel like -35 tonight and overnight lows in the -20 C range heading into the weekend.

Environment Canada has issued a cold warning for Ottawa, warning “frigid temperatures are expected tonight.”

“Cover up. Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill,” Environment Canada said.

“If it’s too cold for you to stay outside, it’s too cold for your pet to stay outside.”

The forecast calls for a low of -25 C tonight, with the wind chill making it feel like -35 overnight.

It will be mainly sunny today. High -13 C.

Clear tonight. Low -25 C.

Friday will see mainly cloudy conditions for the first day of Winterlude. High -13 C.

Saturday will see a mix of sun and cloud. High -10 C.

The outlook for Sunday calls for sunshine. High -9 C.

A mix of sun and cloud is expected on Monday. High -4 C.

The normal temperatures for this time of year are a high of -6 C and a low of -15 C.
