Gatineau police say an Ottawa man is facing charges in connection with an assault that was captured on video and circulated widely online earlier this month. According to police, a man allegedly assaulted a woman shortly before 4 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 8. A video of the incident was circulated online and showed a woman being struck in the face in the Hull district. Police say the woman was conscious when they arrived on the scene, and she was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect had left the scene by the time officers arrived, police say. As a result of an investigation, a 28-year-old man from Ottawa is being charged with assault causing bodily harm. The man, who was arrested in Montreal on Tuesday, is in custody and will appear at the Gatineau courthouse via video conference. Police said there were no other victims linked to the incident.
