Carp resident wins $5 million lottery prize

A 69-year-old Carp resident cashed in a $5 million jackpot, the top prize on a $50 Instant Extreme ticket.

“I played my ticket at home and I realized the numbers matched for the $5 million prize. I checked it using the OLG app, but thought I should wait to get excited until the cheque was in my hands,” lottery winner Bernard Brian Woodsworth shared in a media statement.

“I plan to make a real difference in my life,” he said.

“I’m going to help my mom move to a retirement home, pay some bills, and take a trip to Scotland and England — places I’ve always wanted to see.”

Woodsworth purchased the ticket at Esso/On the Run on Terry Fox Drive in Kanata.
