Brockville, Ont. teacher accused of sexual assault

The Brockville Police Service says a local teacher has been charged in connection with a sexual assault investigation related to allegations dating back more than a decade.

Police said the alleged incidents involved a male student and took place between 2008 and 2011.

Elizabeth Doncaster, 49, is charged with sexual assault, sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching, and sexual exploitation. She was held for a show cause hearing and released with a court date in the new year, police said.

The charges have not been proven in court.

The Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) would not comment directly on the incident, saying it was a personnel matter and an active criminal investigation, but said in a statement steps will be taken to ensure student safety.

“When the UCDSB is made aware of allegations such as these we immediately take appropriate precautions and remove the employee from the school and from working with students,” said Executive Superintendent Chris Boulay. “Student safety is always our top priority. We would advise anyone who has further questions, or information to share, to reach out directly to police.”
