The preventive boil water advisory that was issued by the City of Gatineau for the Hull sector Wednesday has been lifted. It was lifted Friday. “Tests and verifications confirm that the water is now safe for consumption,” the city said in a news release. “Residents who were affected by the advisory should open all their cold water taps and let the water run for at least one minute, or until it’s noticeably cold, before using it. You should follow the same procedure for water fountains and discard any ice made during the advisory.” The city said Wednesday the advisory was due to a water supply interruption caused by emergency work on the water main. It affected 2,700 residences. Affected residents were asked to boil their water for one minute before consumption until the city ends the advisory. A preventive boil water advisory is issued when there is a risk of contamination. The water is not necessarily contaminated. The City of Gatineau is asking residents to sign up for the notification system to receive advisories through email, phone or text. More information is available at www.gatineau.ca.
