82-year-old charged in connection with historical sexual assaults in Embrun, Ont.

Ontario Provincial Police say an 82-year-old man is facing charges in connection with alleged sexual assaults in Embrun, Ont., dating back 20 years.

Police say an investigation began in September into allegations of sexual assault involving two victims that are reported to have taken place between 2005 and 2011.

On Friday, OPP said 82-year-old Maurice Lemieux was charged with three counts of sexual interference, two counts of sexual exploitation, two counts of sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age, and invitation to sexual touching of a person under 16 years of age.

OPP say the accused was released after a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal on Jan. 7, 2026.
