The Ottawa Police Service is seeking witnesses to a serious two-vehicle collision that left two teens in life-threatening condition in south Ottawa Friday afternoon. Police say they received a call at around 6 p.m. reporting “a vehicle had struck farm equipment” at Twin Elm Road and Brophy Drive. When crews arrived at the scene, they found that the driver of the farm equipment was not injured. However, two male teens were seriously injured. They were taken to CHEO in life-threatening condition. Ottawa Fire services says firefighters received a call from police asking for assistance as one teen was trapped inside the vehicle while the other was ejected. “Upon arrival, Firefighters confirmed the collision involved a sedan that was nose first into a ditch with extensive damage and a tractor towing tandem disks,” Ottawa Fire Services said in a post on X. “Multiple bystanders were helping the two patients upon arrival.” Firefighters stabilized the vehicle, then used specialized equipment to cut the passenger-side doors and the roof of the vehicle to be able to extricate the teen. At 6:30, the trapped teen was put on a backboard and removed from the car. That was when he was transported to hospital by paramedics. Shortly before 7:20 p.m., firefighters cleared the scene and left it in the control of Ottawa police. “Investigators would like to speak with anyone who witnessed the collision or may have dashcam footage of this incident,” police said in a news release Saturday.
