Police in Timmins have seized a large amount of cocaine, fentanyl and other hard drugs in a combined initiative that culminated in a raid of a residence Tuesday. Working with the Ontario Provincial Police, officers executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant Sept. 15 at an apartment on Balsam Street North, finding several people inside. “A youth was located in possession of a handgun, a significant quantity of cash and a variety of illicit drugs,” police said in a news release Sept. 16. Handgun, drugs, cash A search of the accused and the residence resulted in the seizure of 66 grams of fentanyl, including brown and pink powder; 63 grams of cocaine; 34 grams of crystal meth; 152 oxycodone tablets; and, 2,000 meth tablets. Police also seized a Glock 20 Gen 4, 10 mm handgun, with six rounds in the magazine, $12,000 in cash, digital scales, cellphones and packaging materials. The Timmins suspect and the youth have each been charged with multiple counts of drug trafficking and possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000. The 15-year-old was also charged with three counts of failing to comply with a release order and one count of failing to comply with a youth sentence and numerous weapons offences.
