A 44-year-old woman has been charged with assault and other offences following an incident on an airborne flight last week in northwestern Ontario.

The incident took place during a flight from Sioux Lookout to Kasabonika Lake, Ontario Provincial Police said in a news release.

Sioux Lookout OPP responded around 7 p.m. Jan. 9 “to a report of an assault that took place in an airborne plane, causing the pilot to return to Sioux Lookout Municipal Airport,” police said in a news release Monday.

Charges include assault, assault in an aircraft during a flight and possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

She was released on bail with conditions and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Wunnumin Lake on Jan. 19.

“The investigation is ongoing,” police said.
