The Ottawa Police Service says a man is facing charges for an incident at a church in Kanata last Sunday. According to police, a suspect entered the church on Rothesay Drive at around 9:20 a.m., damaged something on the high altar, shouted profanities, left the church, and drove away. No one inside the church interacted with the individual, no one was hurt, and no weapons were reported, police said. In a news release on Friday afternoon, police said a 40-year-old man from Ottawa has been charged with two counts of criminal harassment, mischief to religious property and breach of probation. The Ottawa police Hate and Bias Crime Unit are asking to speak with any witnesses who have not yet contacted police. Anyone with information is asked to call the unit at 613-236-1222, extension 5015.
