Two people charged as Sudbury police seize $58K in fentanyl, cocaine

Police in Greater Sudbury raided a residence on Byng Street in the city on April 8, seizing fentanyl, cocaine and other drugs worth an estimated $58,500.

An investigation by drug enforcement officers led them to zero in on the residence, obtaining a search warrant and arriving with the canine unit.

“During the execution of the search warrant, officers located and arrested three individuals inside the residence,” police said.

One person was released

“However, one individual was later released unconditionally as the individual was not involved in drug trafficking.”

A search uncovered 194 grams of cocaine, 251 grams of fentanyl, 31 grams of MDMA, 133 Hydromorphone pills (each 12 mgs), 70 Hydromorphone pills (8 mgs each) and $1,255 in cash.

As a result of the investigation, a 39-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man have been each charged with four counts of drug trafficking and one count of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

The man has been released with a court date of July 8 in Sudbury, while the woman was expected in bail court today, April 9.
