Thunder Bay police seize $90K in cash and drugs

An investigation that began last month in Thunder Bay ended May 5 with a police raid and the seizure of a large amount of illicit drugs and cash.

The operation by the police intelligence unit led to the arrest of a suspect from southern Ontario, leading to a search of a home and a vehicle in the Munro Street area of the city.

“During the searches, a total of over 700 grams of suspected cocaine was seized, along with over $20,000 in … cash,” police said in a news release.

“The estimated street value of the suspected illicit drugs is $70,000.”

A 30-year-old man from Ajax has been charged with drug trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime.

He was remanded into custody after a first court appearance.
