Anishinabek Police Service say an investigation has led to the seizure of cocaine, prescription pills, cash, cellphones and more from a residence in Garden Village on Nipissing First Nation. “A two-month-long investigation by the Anishinabek Police Service has resulted in the seizure of a quantity of drugs and the laying of multiple drug trafficking charges,” police said in a news release. Officers launched the probe in July after receiving information about suspected drug trafficking from a home in the community. On the morning of Aug. 20, police executed a Controlled Drug and Substances Act search warrant at the property, with assistance from the Ontario Provincial Police and its canine unit. Search yields drugs, cash, more Investigators seized approximately eight grams of suspected cocaine, 25 codeine tablets, $3,956 in cash, four cellphones and drug-trafficking paraphernalia including cutting agent. 3 face multiple charges As a result of the investigation, a 61-year-old woman from the First Nation community has been charged with two drug-trafficking offences, possession of property obtained by crime, and failing to comply with a release order. She was held in custody pending a bail hearing. Additionally, a 58-year-old woman from North Bay was charged with two drug-trafficking offences and released on an undertaking. A 46-year-old man from Nipissing First Nation faces charges of obstructing justice and two drug-trafficking offences. He was also released on an undertaking.
