Former Manitoba MP and Dauphin mayor Inky Mark is facing more weapons-related charges after originally being arrested in July. On July 13, Mark was arrested and charged following a months-long RCMP investigation that started in March. He was charged with firearm trafficking, possessing a gun with a tampered serial number and possessing property obtained by crime. At the time of his arrest, RCMP seized hundreds of guns, an antique cannon, ammunition and over $300,000 in cash. Since his arrest, investigators have been combing through all the seized items. In total, RCMP recovered 445 firearms, which is six more than originally reported. Of those recovered guns, RCMP determined 295 were unsafely stored, 10 were prohibited, and 11 were restricted or prohibited and not registered to Mark. Mounties said there was 26.5 kilograms of explosives and that a licensed person can only have six kilograms. RCMP also learned of an incident that happened sometime between December 2024 and February 2025. Investigators said Mark responded to a post on social media from a friend, who was upset over a coyote, by going to the friend’s house “unprompted” and giving them a gun with ammunition in it. RCMP said the friend did not use the gun and it has since been recovered by investigators. Mark was re-arrested on Aug. 12 and now faces 26 new charges, on top of the 12 he was already charged with. He has been charged with weapons trafficking, three counts of knowingly possessing a prohibited weapon, nine counts of possessing a restricted/prohibited weapon with ammo without a licence or registration, nine counts of possessing a firearm knowing it is unauthorized, possessing a firearm with a tampered serial number, two counts of failing to report a lost firearm, and having more than six kilograms of explosives. He was released on an undertaking. None of the charges have been tested in court.
