Police in Sault Ste. Marie charged a 14-year-old with two counts of assault after youths were bear sprayed on two occasions. Police said the first incident occurred around 7:20 p.m. on Sept. 10. “911 communicators received a report of an assault in the 200 block of St. George’s Avenue East where an investigation revealed the accused sprayed a youth with bear spray and punched them, the Sault Ste, Marie Police Service said in a news release Wednesday. “(A) victim sustained minor physical injuries and a warrant was obtained for the accused’s arrest.” On Sept.15 at about 3:10 p.m. police said they received a report of an another assault in the 100 block of Bloor Street West where investigators learned the accused sprayed another youth with bear spray and punched them. The second victim also sustained minor physical injuries and was transported to hospital. Police later located and charged the teen with two counts of assault, two counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of administering a noxious thing and two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. The teenager is in custody pending a bail hearing.
