Passenger numbers at Sault Ste. Marie Airport were up 14.7 per cent in July compared to the same period last year, the airport said in a news release. A total of 15,675 people flew out of the airport last month, compared to 13,662 in 2025. The figure was the highest since July 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic, when passenger numbers reached 18,550. July’s stats continue a strong run at the airport, which began in May (13,349) and rose again in June (14,022). Year-to-date figures stand at 77,678. Air Canada Express offers three flights daily out of the Sault, while Bearskin Airlines also has three flights daily on Sunday and Monday, four flights daily on Tuesday and Thursday and five flights daily on Wednesday and Friday, with one of the Monday and Tuesday flights via Dash8 aircraft. Porter has two daily flights, while WestJet Airlines has twice-weekly service direct non-stop to Calgary.
