A 66-year-old Blind River man faces multiple charges after a two-vehicle collision Sunday morning that sent two people to hospital with serious injuries. Ontario Provincial Police responded to the intersection of Highway 17 and Highway 108 in the Township of the North Shore at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 9. Investigation details “The investigation determined that a blue pickup truck travelling eastbound on Highway 17 was in the left-turn lane attempting to turn north onto Highway 108 when it collided with a grey car travelling westbound on Highway 17,” OPP said in a news release. The crash left two passengers with “serious injuries.” Medical response OPP said paramedics transported the injured parties by ambulance to hospital in Elliot Lake. From there, they were later airlifted to a hospital in Sudbury by Ornge air ambulance. Charges laid As a result of the investigation, the driver of the pickup truck was charged with careless driving causing bodily harm, failing to afford reasonable opportunity to avoid collision while making a left turn, and turning unsafely. The accused is scheduled to appear in court in Blind River on Sept. 15.
