One person was killed and another seriously injured in Sudbury on Aug. 22 when a vehicle headed south on Notre Dame Avenue entered the northbound lane. The crash took place just after 4 p.m., Sudbury police said in a news release Aug. 24. “Officers were dispatched to a serious motor vehicle collision on Municipal Road 80, north of the Notre Dame Avenue and LaSalle Boulevard intersection,” the release said. “The preliminary investigation indicates that a southbound vehicle crossed into the northbound lane and collided with an oncoming vehicle.” Dead at the scene The driver of the southbound vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. “A young passenger from the southbound vehicle was transported to hospital with serious injuries,” the release said. “The driver and passenger of the northbound vehicle were also transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.” The investigation is ongoing and anyone who witnessed the collision or who has dashcam footage from the area of Municipal Road 80 between 3:45 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. on the day of the crash is asked to contact the police at 705-675-9171.
