Two people are facing multiple charges after Thunder Bay police seized a loaded handgun, suspected cocaine and fentanyl, and cash during a drug trafficking investigation. Officers executed a search warrant at a Cumberland Street North residence on Thursday afternoon, following an investigation into suspected drug trafficking in the area. “Officers located one male suspect and one female suspect,” the Thunder Bay Police Service said in a news release. “Both were arrested and taken into custody.” Authorities said they recovered quantities of suspected cocaine and fentanyl, along with cash and a loaded firearm. As a result of this incident, the suspects, a 40-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman, were both charged with two counts of drug trafficking and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime. The man faces five additional weapons-related charges – including possession of a firearm for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and careless storage. He was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for assault, theft of a motor vehicle, mischief, and uttering threats. Both accused were remanded into custody following a court appearance Friday.
