Northern Ont. man faces child luring, pornography charges

A 28-year-old man from Kashechewan First Nation has been charged with child luring of someone under age 16 and possession of child pornography.

A 28-year-old man from Kashechewan First Nation has been charged in connection with an investigation into child exploitation materials and luring.

The Nishnawbe Aski Police Service announced the arrest last week after executing a search warrant at a residence in the community.

Investigation launched earlier this month

According to a news release, the police service’s Kashechewan detachment received a complaint on Aug. 9 regarding a suspect possibly involved in the luring of minors and being in possession of child exploitation materials.

Police began an investigation, which led to the identification of an adult male suspect.

Search warrant executed, electronics seized

In the “morning hours” of Aug. 20, investigators executed a search warrant at a residential address in the zero-to-100 block of Amisk Street.

During the search, the male suspect was located and taken into custody without incident.

Police confirmed that “a number of electronic devices were seized following the search.”

The 28-year-old suspect from Kashechewan First Nation has been charged with possession of child pornography and luring a person under 16 by means of telecommunication.

Nishnawbe Aski police indicate that “the investigation remains ongoing.”

The accused appeared for a bail hearing on Aug. 20 and was released with conditions and a future appearance date.
