North Bay police seize $34K in crystal meth, heroin

A 56-year-old North Bay man faces two trafficking charges after a parole warrant led to his arrest last week. Police seized $34,000 in drugs.

A 56-year-old North Bay man, on parole, is facing drug trafficking charges after police seized an estimated $34,000 worth of heroin and crystal meth.

The investigation began on Dec. 10, when the North Bay Police Service was notified of an arrest warrant for the man for violating parole conditions.

“The accused was located and arrested without incident in the Highland Road area,” said police in a news release Wednesday.

Following the arrest, officers executed a search warrant at the man’s residence. The search led to the seizure of controlled substances with an estimated street value of $34,000, including 206 grams of crystal methamphetamine and 5 grams of heroin.

Insp. Scott McFarlane credited the work of the community and multiple units.

“Thanks to the coordinated efforts of the street crime unit, (the) community and our policing partners, these drugs are off our streets,” said McFarlane, in the release.

The accused was charged with two counts of drug trafficking on Dec. 12 and was held pending a court appearance.
