1,488 vehicles reported stolen in Ottawa in 2025: Here are the hot spots and times for vehicle thefts

Fewer vehicles were reported stolen in Ottawa in 2025, according to police.

Statistics released by the Ottawa Police Service show 1,488 vehicles were reports stolen in Ottawa last year, down from 1,736 vehicle thefts in 2024 and 2,141 stolen vehicles in 2023. Police reported 2,046 vehicle thefts in 2022 and 1,106 vehicles stolen in 2021.

Police recovered 913 stolen vehicles in Ottawa last year.

The ward of Rideau Vanier was the hot spot for vehicle thefts, with 103 vehicles reported stolen last year. The neighbourhood of East Industrial had the highest number of vehicle thefts, with 60 cars reported stolen in 2025.
