North Bay man charged with making threats after incident at non-profit office

A 25-year-old North Bay man is in custody following an incident last week in which someone uttered threats and claimed to possess a concealed weapon at a local not-for-profit organization.

The North Bay Police Service responded to a call Friday.

“The accused had attended the organization and was engaging in prohibited activity, which resulted in staff asking him to leave the property,” police said in a news release Tuesday.

Police said that after being asked to leave, the man made multiple threats and claimed to be in possession of a concealed weapon.

Officers located the individual, who police say “failed to comply with repeated directions, and made motions consistent with having a concealed weapon.”

A stun gun was deployed to subdue the accused, who was then taken into custody.

The man is charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and failing to comply with a probation order.

Police didn’t identify the support organization involved.

The accused was held pending a bail hearing.
