Hwy. 11 reopens between Cochrane and Matheson

CTV News weather specialist Rick Wyman has the details of the weather forecast for the next seven days across northeastern Ontario.

Bad weather has closed Highway 11 on Saturday morning from Cochrane to Highway 101 in the Matheson area.

“Please avoid the area and plan alternate routes,” Ontario Provincial Police said on social media.

Also on Saturday, special weather statements are in effect for areas near North Bay and the Sault.

In the Sault area, Environment Canada said lake effect snow will continue into the afternoon with a total local snowfall amount of 10-15 cm, leading to significantly reduced visibility.

Roads and walkways may be difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.

In the North Bay area, heavy snow is expected Saturday morning up to 10 cm with significantly reduced visibility in heavy snow and local blowing snow.
