Heavy snow expected in the Sault on Monday morning

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Sault Ste. Marie and St. Joseph Island with significant snow expected Monday morning.

“Lake effect snow continues (with) total local snowfall amounts of 5 to 10 cm,” the statement said.

“Lake effect snow off Lake Superior will continue to affect the area, including portions of Highway 17. Conditions are expected to improve later this morning as the lake effect snow dissipates or moves out of the area.”

Some areas will experience significantly reduced visibility at times in heavy snow, but the snow will end later this morning.
