Ground, water search underway to find missing Sudbury woman

Sudbury police initiated a ground and water search Thursday in an effort to locate a woman who went missing almost a week ago.

Search and rescue crews are looking for a missing Sudbury woman who was last seen in the Corsi Hill area Friday morning.

Search efforts on the ground and in the water Thursday afternoon are focused on the Junction Creek area between Kelly Lake Road and Martindale Road in the city’s South End.

“The public is asked to avoid the area while officers and North Shore Search and Rescue are on scene to allow members to conduct a thorough search of the area,” Sudbury police said on social media.

The missing woman’s name is Parisa and she was last seen on a trail after leaving Corsi Hill around 10:30 a.m. April 7.

She is described as being 5-foot-4, 105 pounds with long, dark brown hair, brown eyes and a scar on her forehead.

At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing a hooded, burgundy winter jacket with fur, black leggings, snow pants and boots.

Sudbury police announced just before 2 p.m. Thursday the search was underway.

“Anyone with current information related to Parisa’s whereabouts is asked to contact police immediately at 705-675-9171,” police said.

Following a thorough ground and water search of the area, no evidence or information related to Parisa’s whereabouts were located, police spokesperson Kaitlyn Dunn told CTVNewsNorthernOntario.ca in an email Friday morning.

“Officers continue to canvas for and review video surveillance footage of the area,” Dunn said.

“Anyone with information related to the whereabouts of Parisa is asked to contact police immediately.”
