Fentanyl, cocaine seized in Ginoogaming First Nation raid

Two men face drug and weapons-related charges following an early morning weapons complaint and subsequent search of a home on Chapais Point Road in Ginoogaming First Nation.

Officers with the Anishinabek Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a weapons-related call for service at a residence in the community in the early hours of May 6.

Search warrant executed

“Later that morning, a search warrant was executed at the residence by officers,” Anishinabek police said in a news release.

Police said the search led to the seizure of 137 grams of fentanyl, 159 grams of cocaine, one cellular device and $315 in cash.

Charges laid

As a result of the incident and subsequent investigation, a 31-year-old man from North York has been charged with possession of a prohibited device or ammunition, being unlawfully in a dwelling house and two drug trafficking offences.

A 41-year-old local man has also been charged with two drug trafficking offences.

“This investigation is ongoing,” police said.
