A 35-year-old man in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., faces an assault with a weapon charge after an incident earlier this month in the city. Police said the event unfolded shortly after midnight on April 6 when 911 operators received a report of an assault in the 700 block of Wellington Street East and officers were dispatched to the scene. “An investigation revealed the accused threw an object at a security guard when they were asked to leave the property,” said the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service in a news release. “The object did not strike the victim and no physical injuries were reported.” The service’s Division 2 Unit conducted the investigation. Officers located and arrested the accused at about 5:30 p.m. on April 14. The local man was charged with assault with a weapon. The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on July 13.
