Freezing rain forecast for the Greater Montreal area

Though temperatures have risen in Montreal, winter's not quite done with freezing rain greeting the city.

Warmer weather may be blessing the Greater Montreal area on Monday, but Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) warns the rest of the week is looking much more grey.

Freezing rain is expected to leave an accumulation of five to 10 millimetres on Tuesday morning until noon, and then again at night, according to a special weather statement by the agency.

“The impacts could be limited given that the temperatures will be close to freezing,” ECCC states. “Roads and sidewalks could be icy, making it difficult to get around. Power outages will be possible.”

Generally, wet weather is projected for the rest of the week, with a cloudy day on Wednesday and periods of rain on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, though temperatures could start grazing the two-digit range.
