Montreal business targeted by fire

A business in Montreal’s Plateau-Mont-Royal borough suffered minor damage after a fire early Thursday morning.

Montreal police (SPVM) received several 911 calls at 5:10 a.m. about an alarm going off at a building on Saint-Laurent Boulevard near Milton Street.

“Once police arrived, the Montreal fire department’s firefighters were already on the scene extinguishing the minor fire inside the business,” said Johany Charland, a spokesperson with Montreal police.

She notes that at least one window was smashed.

“Incendiary materials have been found by firefighters, projecting that the fire was from criminal mischief,” said Charland.

The business suffered minor damages, and there have been no arrests.

The investigation is ongoing.
