Body found on the shores of Montreal’s Rivière des Prairies

A body has been located on the shores of the Rivière des Prairies near Montreal.

Montreal police (SPVM) received a 911 call at 10:35 a.m. Thursday, about the body, seen near Gouin Boulevard and Saint-Jean Boulevard, not far from Île-Bizard–Sainte-Geneviève.

The force would not confirm the person’s identity.

However, the discovery comes after two teenagers fell through the ice as they were walking on the river last March.

The 17-year-old was pulled from the water and taken to the hospital, while the 18-year-old was swept away by the current.

In the wake of the incident, CEGEP Gérald-Godin confirmed the missing teen was one of its students.

Police searched for the 18-year-old for several days before eventually calling off the efforts.

The file is set to be transferred to the Coroner’s office.
