Man arrested after attack involving knife, axe sends 1 to hospital

A 55-year-old man has been arrested after an alleged knife and axe attack on a 66-year-old man on Tuesday evening in Sherbrooke, Que.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday to face charges of attempted murder, armed assault and aggravated assault.

According to Sherbrooke police, the victim was attacked at 5:15 p.m. near Domaine Joly-Mont.

The suspect allegedly used an axe and a knife to cause the man “serious injuries to his abdomen and head.”

The victim was transported to hospital to be treated for his injuries.

The man’s spouse, who tried to intervene, was also injured.

The suspect is known to police and was arrested at the scene.

Police did not provide further details on the circumstances surrounding the incident.
