Two snowmobile accidents leave one man dead and another in critical condition

Two snowmobile accidents have occurred in the last 24 hours, leaving one man dead and another in critical condition.

Two seperate snowmobile accidents have left one man dead and another in critical condition.

A 59-year-old snowmobiler was killed in the afternoon of  Dec.26, after being hit by a moving vehicle.

The man was attempting to cross Dupont St. in Saint-Lambert-de-Lauzon, when he was hit by an oncoming van.

He was immediately rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the van was uninjured.

Neither speed nor alcohol are suspected as potential causes of the incident.

Another snowmobiler is in critical condition after an early morning incident on Dec.27.

The accident happened around 1:45 a.m. in Mirabel.

The man, in his early twenties, is currently being treated for his injuries at the Sacre-Coeur Hospital in Montreal.

Exactly what happened has not been determined, but police suspect that the man either collided with a tree or lost control and veered off of the road. Police have not discarded the possibility that alcohol or drugs could be a factor, though nothing has been confirmed at this point.

At the time the victim was riding with two other friends, but neither were involved in the accident.
