Turcot construction to close ramps as of Thursday evening

CTV Montreal: Turcot closures begin Friday There will be major closures in the Turcot Interchange starting Friday morning and lasting through the weekend.

Work to demolish old and unused ramps in the Turcot Interchange project will require closing multiple ramps during the day on Friday.

That means multiple ramps will close as 10 p.m. Thursday March 14 and remain closed until 5 a.m. Monday March 18 -- while more ramps will close Friday night and stay closed until Monday morning.

The following routes will be closed as of midnight Friday:

All routes will reopen at 5 a.m. on Monday

Part of the Bonaventure Expressway toward the Champlain Bridge will also be closed.

The entire highway will be closed between the Wellington Exit and Exit 3/Carrie Derick, as of 10 p.m. Thursday.

That roadway will open at 5 a.m. Monday.

More major work to come

Martin Roy of Transport Quebec said that more weekday closures will come in April, and possibly over the summer.

"There's another major one coming in April. The exact date we don't know. It will be in April to dismantle all the 15 South over the 20 and also the railroad," said Roy.

"It will be three days, so two days during the weekend and one weekday."

While it seems as though the work will never end, the project is still set to be complete by the end of next year.

“Everything is on target. This is pretty much why we're doing special closures. We want to make sure to stay on target and to be able to finish all the work as planned,” said Roy.

So far, 78 per cent of the old Turcot Interchange has been demolished, and Roy said 97 per cent of the old structure will be removed by the summer.
