Snow squalls expected in Montreal area Thursday

Drivers in the Montreal, Vaudreuil and Laval areas should exercise extra caution on the roads on Thursday, because a snow squall warning will be in effect.

Environment Canada is warning that heavy flurries with local blowing snow may lead to drivers having zero visibility on some roads.

Snowfall amounts could also reach above 5 centimetres over a short period of time.

Snow squalls can create highly variable weather conditions, Environment Canada warns.

“Conditions often go from clear skies to an area of heavy snow in just a few kilometres,” the weather agency said.

Rapidly accumulating snow could further complicate travel.

Rush hour traffic may be affected in the morning and evening.
