Quebec City area PQ candidate withdraws her candidacy for personal reasons

The Parti Québécois candidate for Taschereau, Jeanne Robin, announced on Tuesday that she is withdrawing her candidacy for personal reasons.

In a brief statement, she said that this should not be seen as an ideological or any other disagreement with the party, but is indeed a personal decision.

“I would like to make it clear from the outset that this decision is not linked to any disagreement with the party’s positions nor any conflict with anyone. On the contrary, I remain as convinced as ever that this party has the best vision for Quebec – a vision that unites, inspires and is responsible, and one with which I still identify,” she said.

PQ leader Paul St-Pierre Plamondon thanked her for her dedication, noting that she will remain a member within the party.

“Until very recently, she shared her expertise with the party by contributing to our environmental plan unveiled this week, the quality of which was, incidentally, widely praised,” he said.

Robin was previously a senior director at the organization Vivre en ville, which focuses on land-use planning issues

Taschereau is a constituency in Quebec City, currently represented by Étienne Grandmont of Quebec Solidaire.
