PC-brand hummus recalled for bacterial contamination

One lot of PC brand hummus is being recalled because it may be contaminated with dangerous bacteria.

Moroccan-style hummus with a best before date of June 14, 2015 may contain staphylococcus bacteria and should not be eaten.

The affected batch has the UPC code 060383133870.

Food contaminated by staphylococcus will produce a toxin, but it is unlikely to smell bad or seem spoiled.

People who get food poisoning from staphylococcus can be nauseous, vomit, have stomach cramps or diarrhea.

It was sold in Quebec at Loblaws, Maxi, Provigo and some independent stores.

So far nobody has been reported sick.

People who bought the hummus should return it to the store for a refund.
